Bonded Seals
Bonded Seals are also known as Dowty Seals or Dowty Bonded Washers. They are high pressure seals which are used in the Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic sectors. They comprise of a metal washer and an elastomeric ring which is bonded inside the diameter. The metal washer prevents over-compression and limits deformation of the elastomeric ring.
BS/A self-centering combination sealing gaskets are suitable for metric, imperial, BSP threaded pipe joints and screw plugs. No special processing of the sealing groove position is required. It is an ideal accessory for fast and automatic installation. The operating temperature is -30℃~100℃, and the working pressure shall not exceed 39.2MPa. Non-automatic centering combination gaskets are suitable for pipeline systems with oil as the medium, for welding, ferrules, expansion pipe joints, screw plugs and pressure system sealing of mechanical devices. To prevent leakage of oil, fuel, water and medicines, the nominal pressure is up to 40MPa and the working temperature is -25℃~+100℃.
PRODUCT DETAILS
Introduction to Bonded Seals
Bonded Seals, often referred to as Dowty Seals or Dowty Bonded Washers, are engineered to provide reliable sealing in high-pressure environments. These seals are designed to effectively seal threads and flange joints, ensuring a leak-free connection in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The unique combination of a metal washer and an elastomeric sealing pad offers durability and effectiveness, making them ideal for demanding applications where conventional seals may fail.
Design and Construction of Bonded Seals
Bonded Seals consist of a metal washer and an elastomeric sealing pad that are permanently bonded together, creating a reliable barrier against leaks. The metal washer not only reinforces the seal but also prevents the over-compression of the elastomeric ring, maintaining the seal's integrity and performance. The self-centralizing design of Bonded Seals ensures precise placement within the joint, eliminating the risk of seal offset and facilitating straightforward installation.
Material Options and Customization
Bonded Seals are available in a variety of sizes, including Imperial, Metric, and French Metric, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. The option to customize with different metals and sealing materials allows for tailored solutions to meet specific industry needs. Elastomer components are available in materials such as NBR 70 (Standard), NBR 90, FKM (Viton®) 75, and EPDM 70, providing compatibility with a variety of fluids and environmental conditions.
Applications of Bonded Seals
Widely used in the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic sectors, Bonded Seals are an ideal choice for applications where conventional seals are unsuitable. They are particularly suited for pipeline systems with oil as the medium, for welding, ferrules, expansion pipe joints, screw plugs, and pressure system sealing of mechanical devices. To prevent leakage of oil, fuel, water, and medicines, the nominal pressure is up to 40MPa and the working temperature is -25°C~+100°C.
Mechanical Sectors
In mechanical applications, Bonded Seals are used to prevent leaks in systems involving oil, fuel, water, and medicines. Their robust construction and adaptability make them a preferred sealing solution for demanding environments.
Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
In hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Bonded Seals ensure tight seals in threaded pipe joints and screw plugs, facilitating fast and automatic installation. They are ideal for pipeline systems and pressure system sealing of mechanical devices.
Industrial Machinery
Bonded Seals are widely used in industrial machinery where high-pressure sealing is critical. Their ability to withstand high pressures and temperatures makes them suitable for various industrial applications.
Advantages of Bonded Seals
Bonded Seals offer several advantages that make them a preferred choice in high-pressure sealing applications:
Reliable Low and High Pressure Sealing: They provide consistent sealing performance across a wide range of pressures.
Temperature Capabilities: Bonded Seals can operate effectively in both high and low-temperature environments.
Reduced Bolt Torque: They allow for reduced bolt torque without compromising the tightening load.
Durability and Longevity: The combination of metal and elastomer ensures long service life and minimal maintenance.
Conclusion
Bonded Seals are essential components for high-pressure systems, offering a reliable and durable sealing solution. Their design and material flexibility make them suitable for a wide range of applications, from mechanical and hydraulic systems to challenging industrial environments. By choosing Bonded Seals for your sealing needs, you can ensure enhanced reliability, easy installation, and tailored solutions that meet the demands of your specific applications.
